Mindful EQ Groups
At Mindful Mentoring of Metropolitan Washington, we prioritize improving the emotional intelligence and well-being of our clients, particularly our youth leaders. Our Mindful Intelligence group sessions are based on six targeted skills, including Emotional Intelligence, Coping Skills, Self Confidence/Self-Esteem, Social Awareness Boundaries, and Resiliency. We offer creative interactive activities that aim to improve social skills and emotional intelligence, by focusing on building positive relationships, healthy coping strategies, and self-awareness.

Mindful Dedication
At Mindful Mentoring of Metropolitan Washington, we believe in the importance of cultivating emotional intelligence. Our Mindful Mentors work one-on-one with participants to help them develop and grow in six targeted skills: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, social skills, and mindfulness. Through weekly in-person and virtual meetings, our mentors foster a safe and supportive space where participants can explore their emotions, gain insight into their thoughts, and learn new techniques to manage their feelings more effectively.

What We Cover
Coping Skills
Being equipped with the skills needed to adjust when unproductive emotions present themselves is our second targeted skill. Teaching coping skills help prepare youth leaders when triggers present themselves.
Emotional Intelligence
While traditional schools focus on raising a child’s IQ, we focus on strengthening their level of emotional intelligence (EQ). Emotion regulation is one of our youths’ biggest challenges today. Helping them identify emotions that trigger unproductive behaviors is the start of them being able to navigate the world around them.
Self Confidence/ Self-Esteem
Helping youth leaders build a healthy self-esteem helps them to build self-confidence. We believe that for young people to be successful with anything in life, they must first recognize their strengths and become confident in them.
Social Awareness
Having the ability to understand different perspectives and being empathetic are fundamental skills that will enable youth to engage in various environments comfortably without feeling the need to conform or submit when their beliefs and morals are challenged. This lesson prepares youth leaders to be able to engage confidently in diverse environments.
Boundaries
This lesson teaches youth leaders to set both emotional and physical boundaries. Learning how to set and maintain healthy boundaries is a necessary part of growing up. It is the key to building and maintaining healthy relationships.

Resiliency
Our lesson on resiliency is the final module in our life skills (EI/EQ) series. It is designed to help cultivate a resilient mindset. This character-building module teach clients the skills needed to respond and recover adaptively to adversity and setbacks.
